Every generation has its workshop. For my grandfather, it was a drafting table, a workbench, and a flying field. For me, it's this community. My hope is that RC Groups® becomes the place where today's hobbyists inspire tomorrow's builders, just as he inspired me. If this community helps even one child discover the joy of building something with their own hands, then his legacy will continue to fly for generations to come.
Our Story
More Than a Website. A Community Built on Tradition.
Welcome to RC Groups®, a community built for everyone who shares a passion for radio control, modeling, craftsmanship, and the joy of creating something with their own hands.
Whether your passion is airplanes, helicopters, drones, cars, trucks, crawlers, boats, trains, tanks, construction equipment, robotics, scale modeling, or any other corner of the RC world, you've found your home.
This isn't just another social media platform.
It's a place built by one hobbyist, for every hobbyist.
Where It All Began
The story of RC Groups® didn't begin on the internet.
It began decades ago.
Back in the 1980s, my grandfather and a close circle of lifelong friends formed what they proudly called "RC Groups®." Long before websites, forums, or social media connected hobbyists around the world, they gathered the old-fashioned way: at flying fields, workshops, garages, kitchen tables, and local hobby shops.
They shared ideas.
They helped each other solve problems.
They celebrated each other's successes.
Most importantly, they built lasting friendships centered around a common love of creating and flying.
My grandfather was much more than an RC pilot.
He was a gifted designer, builder, and craftsman who spent countless hours developing his own custom aircraft plans, designing kits by hand, and refining every detail until it was exactly right. His airplanes weren't mass-produced products, they were works of patience, skill, and pride. The kits and plans he created were shared locally among fellow enthusiasts who appreciated handmade quality and the dedication behind every design.
Growing up around him taught me lessons that reached far beyond RC.
He showed me that the best things in life aren't always bought, they're built.
He taught me patience.
He taught me problem solving.
He taught me that mistakes are simply another step toward mastering a craft.
Most of all, he taught me that hobbies aren't just about the finished product.
They're about the people you meet along the way.
Carrying a Legacy Forward
As his grandson, it is both an honor and a responsibility to carry that tradition into a new generation.
Technology has changed.
The hobby has evolved.
The world is more connected than ever before.
But the values that made those early RC gatherings so special haven't changed at all.
Friendship.
Respect.
Creativity.
Helping newcomers.
Sharing knowledge.
Building things that last.
Today, instead of meeting around a local flying field, we have the opportunity to bring together builders and enthusiasts from every corner of the world.
That's why I built RC Groups® from the ground up.
Not because I had a large company behind me.
Not because I had investors.
Not because I had unlimited resources.
I built it because I believed the RC community deserved a place that felt like home.
Every page, every feature, and every improvement comes from one simple goal: creating a welcoming place where everyone, from complete beginners to lifelong experts, can connect, learn, share, and inspire one another.
This website has been built from scratch on a limited income, powered by determination, countless late nights, and a genuine love for the hobby. It exists because I believe communities should be built around people, not algorithms.
A Community for Every Hobby
While our roots began in radio-controlled aviation, RC Groups® has grown into something much bigger.
Today we welcome every corner of the RC and modeling world.

You belong here.
Every hobby teaches something.
Every builder has a story.
Every project inspires someone else.
Built by the Community
RC Groups® isn't meant to be a place where people simply scroll past content.
It's meant to be a place where conversations begin.
Where beginners ask questions without fear.
Where experienced builders pass along decades of knowledge.
Where friendships are formed across generations.
Where ideas become projects.
Where projects become memories.
Every member who joins becomes part of this story.
Every photo you upload...
Every build log you share...
Every question you answer...
Every encouraging comment you leave...
...helps build the kind of community my grandfather and his friends created all those years ago.
Only now, instead of one local flying field, our workshop spans the world.
A Promise to Our Members
As long as RC Groups® exists, I will continue striving to make it a place where:
Everyone is welcome.
Respect comes first.
Knowledge is shared freely.
Creativity is celebrated.
Builders inspire builders.
Friendships matter more than follower counts.
The hobby always comes first.
This community belongs to all of us.
In Memory
My grandfather has now slipped the bonds of Earth and joined the flying club in the sky.
Although he is no longer standing beside me in the workshop or at the flying field, his influence can be found throughout this community.
Every lesson he taught me.
Every airplane he designed.
Every model he built.
Every friendship he formed.
Every life he touched.
His legacy continues through the people who gather here today.
I hope this community reflects the kindness, craftsmanship, generosity, and passion that defined his life.
Welcome to the Family
When you become a member of RC Groups®, you aren't simply creating an account.

Most of all, you're joining a family of people who understand why this hobby captures our hearts.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for helping write the next chapter of this story.
